Have you ever wondered why Chick-fil-A employees say “My Pleasure” instead of “You’re Welcome”? Our founder Truett Cathy established Chick-fil-A as a company that values people. He is quoted as saying:
“We’re not just in the chicken business, we’re in the people business.”
About 15 years ago Cathy decided to make “my pleasure” Chick-fil-A’s official response to customers after it was said to him during his visit to a Ritz-Carlton. The phrase so impressed him that Cathy saw the opportunity to emulate the Ritz-Carlton in making Chick-fil-A guests feel like they are in a high-class establishment during each visit.
So now when a team member brings your meal to your table or offers to refresh your beverage and responds with “my pleasure”, you’ll understand it’s because we’re in the people business.
